Travel Packing Hack: Easy-to-Carry Make-up Removing Pads

I don’t know about you, but every time I am packing for a travel, my biggest worry is how to seal the liquid cosmetics so they can survive the rough handling of check-in baggage, and don’t spill into my
clothes. Also, carrying full sized bottles are always such a pain, especially if you don’t want toyou’re your suitcase on check-in. Being a consultant, I am always on the go, and on a look out for hacks to make carrying cosmetics easier to travel with.

In this post I explain how I make my own easy-to-carry make-up remover pads which easily sustain me for a 10-12 day travel. It is less messy to pack, easy to make and use, and removes your make-up better than the removing wipes.

Things you will need:

1.       Cotton pads (you can buy some from Nykaa here)
2.       Liquid Make-up remover (oil-based works best for this)
3.       An air-tight container

How to:

I would usually put in the cotton pads into the container, and pour the make-up remover over it. Wait for it to get soaked, and then pour some again, till all the cotton pads are saturated with the liquid. Keep the lid of the container closed as much as possible. I also use a tissue in the end to dab away the excess from the container. And voila!

The maximum no. of days I have used this for is 10-12, post which the pads tend to dry out a little bit. Also, oil based make-up remover (such as the Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Oil) works best for this, since water based ones evaporate and dry out quicker.

Your own DIY make-up remover?

I know the make-up removers can get pretty expensive sometimes – so you could also DIY your own. There are many ways to do so, and you should be able to google your favorite way up. But my go-to method is to mix 1 part of baby-shampoo to 2 parts of Coconut oil or Baby oil, and mix a few drops of tea-tree oil in it. This takes out even the water-proof mascara for me.

Let me know if you find this useful for a hassle free packing next time you are off a vacation!
